I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a blog for some time now. I have been encouraged by friends and colleagues on many occasions to take advantage of the exposure the blogging world can afford a developer, but I’ve always just used the “I just don’t have the time to keep it updated” rhetoric. I finally decided that I have enough going on in life that it might actually be worth taking the time to document some of them. I have had a couple opportunities open up recently that really may be helpful, informative or simply interesting to someone else out there.
While I hardly view my life as an interesting canvass to display for the world to see, I do, on occasion, have some thoughts or insights on different topics that may be worth writing down for posterity’s sake. I suppose only time will tell whether this blog will prove to be an utter waste of time as so many blogs out there today are or whether it may actually be a worthwhile venue. If you find yourself wondering what sort of madness may escape my keyboard, the majority of my writings will most likely be related to technology in some way. With my web development experience, I tend to verbalize a lot of opinions about languages from PHP to Python as well as their associative database options. In addition, with my work inundating me more and more with UI projects, I have had the privilege (or curse, depending on your perspective) to solve countless CSS and Javascript problems that have arisen time and time again. At the very least, I retain the hope that some of these somewhat coherent thoughts that I key will be of some help to someone out there.
In addition to the aspirations I have for ridding the world of UI problems, I also like to discuss random topics from video game design (specifically regarding a new team I have had the privilege with which to team on a project – more to come on this theme) to the periodic funny I may find myself posting. I may occasionally find myself submitting to the desire to post about some of my other passions as well: namely music. I have always had a love for music, and while it doesn’t have as much a role in my life as it once did (or as I wish it did once again), I still have very marked opinions about some things, and on occasion, I actually feel the need to share my opinions with others.
A disclaimer that I wish most bloggers would make up front is the fact that my writings are indeed just that, my writings. They are opinions I, through my personal experience, have devised. If you feel the need to degrade me or anything I have written about, please do so by contacting me directly rather than choosing to berate me or others who comment my blog. That will simply serve to get you banned. I am more than willing to carry on conversations and discuss alternative views to any post which I create if they are presented in an appropriate manner.
All this said, I genuinely hope I have the time to update this periodically, and I will do my best to keep those of you interested enough in my life to return abreast of all my thoughts, however obtuse they may seem. I wish you all the best!
