Finally Some Real Photography

Those of you who have known me for a while are also aware that I have had an interest in photography for some time. My dad sparked the interest in me as a child, and I have never really had the capacity to pursue anything in that field. I have expressed some interest in really pursuing some photography in order to get some nice shots of the kids since they have been coming along, and last week, my wife surprised me with an early Christmas present: a brand new Nikon D90 DSLR with a Nikkor 18-105mm zoom lens. Needless to say, in the last 5 days, I have spent a good bit of time behind it, and of the 350+ pictures I have already taken, I have come up with a small collection of images of which I am very proud.
Obviously, as I learn more and more, my personal definition of “good” will change, and my pictures will get better and better, and, in fact, I may well look back on these someday with embarrassment that I thought they were any good at all. However, for the moment, I am going to revel in the outcome that I have achieved with the camera this far. Here are a few more I am especially pleased with:

If any of my readers have input, suggestions or just request for more pictures, feel free to leave me a message. I am always looking for more people to network with on different levels, and the more I get into this photography, the more I will want to get input from others, I’m sure.

Looks good! You’re on your way. You will find that there is another world out there called “Macro”. The shot of the wood reminded me of that. The next thing to get is a GREAT tripod (manfrotto). Maybe you can get Becky one for an early Christmas present too….. you wouldn’t want her to feel left out.
