Sometimes, the wonder of the Christmas season is lost on those of us who get caught up in the hustle and bustle or life. It often pays to relax, unwind, and try to view life for a time through the eyes of a child. Remember the brilliance and wonder of everything new. Celebrate the little triumphs like being the winner of the globally-important “Race to the Car”.
This Christmas, the single moment that brought me back to that childhood spot wherein nothing else matters besides that upon which you’re currently focused was watching my son playing with his new army men. While the rest of the three generations of family were still busily exchanging gifts (complete with grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles and cousins), my son made his way off by himself and was completely enthralled by his little plastic soldiers for nearly half an hour. This was no small feat, for he had received other toys that were of greater monetary value as well as a myriad of other gifts, but for some reason, the gravitational attraction of little boys to molded figures of warfare was too much to overcome. From my position on the couch, I couldn’t help but be brought back to my own childhood days and reminisce of the hours spent playing in much the same way with my own favorite: Transformers. As a parting gift, I offer you this image I was able to capture, and I hope it brings us all back to the last time we experienced that same moment of wonder!
